Letter to Editor: Judy of Chattagnooga, TN

Judy of Chattagnooga, TN writes:

I’ve been very disappointed in the response from our Tennessee senators as they move forward to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a replacement plan. It’s irresponsible to claim that a replacement plan that affects our economy and millions of people, can be drafted, debated, and passed in a matter of days or weeks.

So I have just a few questions I would like them to answer:

–Will everyone who has coverage today still have coverage under this replacement plan?

–Will everyone who currently has health insurance tax credit continue to receive the same amount so that they not only “have access” to coverage, but can afford it?

–Will the replacement maintain the protections for people with pre-existing conditions?

–Will the replacement guarantee a woman won’t be charged more than a man for health insurance simply because she’s a woman?

–Will insurance companies in all states still be required to cover check-ups for kids, mammograms and birth control without co-pays? Will mental health and prescription drugs still be covered at the same level?

–Will the replacement cut taxes for pharmaceutical companies and the wealthiest?

I urge to call them and get the answers!

Sincerely,

Judy Gallagher
